VENUE : Cadogan Hall
LOCATION : Cadogan Place, very close to Sloane Square
TRANSPORT LINKS : Excellent. Come out of Sloane Square station and look to your right, and you will see the hall. There is also a bus stop on Cliveden Place very close by.
COMMENTS : A former church, the Cadogan Hall boasts some of the finest decorations in music. It also boasts something even Wigmore Hall can’t match – seats which slope towards the stage, making it far easier to see if you are seated further back. There is nothing like the depth of entertainment here that there is at Wigmore Hall, but get the right event on the right day and it is more than worth the money.
You would expect a venue of this type in this location to be expensive, and for the most part you would be right, but there are cheap seats available even for RPO events. Well worth a visit if they happen to be playing something of special interest to you.
The Cadogan Hall also hosts the BBC Chamber Proms, which are always worth attending.
SUMMARY : Facilities are as good at the Cadogan Hall as you willl find anywhere, right from transport to the hall itself. It pays to check the programme regularly, because if something comes up which attracts your interest there is no finer setting for it.
The one major blot has been the loss of the annual Mozart Birthday Concert in January, which used to be the highlight of the musical year. Surely someone would like to resurrect it?
Events at the hall are ongoing. For details, go HERE
